Before you turn off the lights

Next, the pair loaded an extremely dry tree up with five times the amount of lights they'd attempted the first time around. But what about a tree that's not exactly fresh? In order to test whether or not leaving your Christmas lights on overnight can truly be hazardous (and cause a fire), Hyneman and Savage loaded up a freshly-cut tree with a reasonable five strands of Christmas lights, left it overnight, and came back to find a tree that was perfectly fine. Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, the hosts of the show found out that every year in the United States, hundreds of holiday fires happen due to Christmas tree related causes, according to the National Fire Protection Association. Though the CPSC doesn't recommend leaving your Christmas lights on overnight, the television show MythBusters decided to take the question of whether or not leaving Christmas lights on your tree overnight can start a fire, and put it to the test. Not exactly the kind of holiday excitement you're looking for. For example, electric lights are a no-go if you're putting up a metallic tree this year, as faulty lights can charge your tree and electrocute anyone who touches it. The CPSC went on to note that depending on whether or not you're talking about putting lights up outside or putting lights on the tree, the rules are a little different. Whether your strands are old or new, by making sure that your lights are safe before you plug them in you can avoid a lot of possible dangers. You should check each strand of lights for frayed wires, broken bulbs, or loose connections before plugging them in, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Whether you're hanging lights on the tree, or hanging them outside, you'll want to test your lights before you hang them. There are plenty of safety precautions you'll want to keep in mind while you're getting ready to hang your Christmas lights. But one thing I've never been clear on is can I leave my Christmas lights on overnight?

BEFORE YOU TURN OFF THE LIGHTS PROFESSIONAL

I'm a professional when it comes to hanging lights and artfully weaving strands between the branches of a tree or on a house. And the twinkling lights are one of my favorite parts of the season. It's also the season to decorate a beautiful tree and spend many nights gathered around it, gazing at the twinkling lights while drinking cocoa and reading your favorite Christmas stories. He did get a whole lot of sympathy and shit from people after Jon and Ryan left, I think this part is just saying that he wanted all the sympathy he could get to hide all the insecurities he had.'Tis the season for snow, ornaments, cookies, and holiday cheer. But this could be a range of people such as ex band members (Brent, Ryan, Jon), Maybe Pete (DecayDance) and FueledByRamen (he could feel that the band breaking up was caused by himself and feels that he has disappointed them) but maybe more importantly the fans (I think its more about the fans than anything)Ĭould be him thinking about his big expectations for the band in its infant stage (just signing, first album, fists tour and all that jazz) and he feels that it all gone wrong now that two members are gone.

General CommentI wouldnt go as far as saying this is strictly about his dad but I think it really is about how he has let down people, which yes would include his dad. This interpretation may not make the most sense, but I hope you understand how I see it. but to me this song is about expectations, loneliness, and takings chances. Seems to mean that hes going to take chances and he what he wants because afterwards he may go insane or a less dramatic form because he'll be back where he started. "how in god's name did I survive?" seems to be obvious as to how did he survive my past actions.Īlso the part of: "Once it falls apart my heads in the clouds and even though he's taking them now to, he thinks and believes just wont live up to the expectations. He (like most of us) sets his expectations high and because of that he always failsīecause of this he stops caring, he'll take all the chances he wants (like being with this girl:Īnd by the line: "like the man I know I'm not"Ī "man" in his view would take these chances. His consequences are literally worse than his ego because his ego got him there and the consequence is affecting things now. He's at one point so desperately alone he turns to "the devil". My InterpretationI believe this song (in general) is about being alone.
